Tammy Waymire teaches Accounting at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), where her specialization is government and nonprofit accounting and auditing. She is an award-winning teacher, having taught at doctoral seminars and at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive MBA levels. Dr. Waymire also serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, and Journal of Accounting Education.
She received her B.S. in Accounting from Arkansas Tech University, her MBA in Healthcare Management from Harding University, and her Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Prior to her career in academia, Waymire held public service positions requiring expert witness testimony in public utility rate-making proceedings and Medicaid fraud cases.
Dr. Waymire has been recognized with teaching and research awards, and she has published 24 peer-reviewed articles in journals including Journal of Governmental & Nonprofit Accounting, Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Government Financial Management, CPA Journal, Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting, Nonprofit Management & Leadership, and Journal of Accounting Education, among others.
Tammy Waymire and her husband, Dennis, a counselor at Riverdale High School, met in the marching band at Arkansas Tech University. They have three boys: Samuel, David, and Jonathan.
