With the world adapting to a new normal, the CIMA Exam is doing the same, and we want to be sure you have the most up-to-date information so you can prepare to take and pass the test with confidence.
As of now, to ensure the health and wellbeing of both test takers and test administrators, the Pearson VUE-owned and operated testing centers in many locations are not open for in-person testing. Instead, in an unprecedented move, the CIMA Professional Qualification is currently available for remote testing. This online option is one that will continue in the future, so even once test centers open, you’ll have the choice of taking it online or in-person.
For the remote test, you will use Pearson’s OnVUE system to take the exam from the comfort of your own home. To do so, at the time of your exam, log in to your account on pearsonvue.com, locate your test, and click the button to begin the test. Doing so will allow you to download the OnVue software so that you can then begin your check-in process, where you’ll be asked to take a headshot photo and show your approved ID. You’ll also be asked to take several photos of the space around you, so ensure you’ve removed all notes and study materials ahead of time.
Additionally, throughout the test, you’ll be monitored by proctors through both your web camera and microphone to ensure you’re not referencing study materials or getting help from others. Once your test begins, you will not be allowed to leave the view of your web camera or even the room you’ve started the test in—so ensure you’re in a quiet, comfortable area with good internet. The test proctors are trained to look for questionable behavior, and if they see or suspect any violation of the rules, they may discontinue your exam by shutting it down.
In addition to those measures, you’ll also be using a secure browser that does not allow you to open additional windows or programs during your exam. However, if you do encounter difficulties or have questions, you can use the Chat feature on the exam interface.
These new measures are meant to ensure a fair testing experience for all candidates as it moves to the new online exam format, and being prepared for these modifications ahead of time can ensure a calmer and smoother check-in experience—leaving you composed and prepared to take the test.
