Candidates must complete 150 semester hours of education that meet 1 of the following conditions:

  • A graduate degree with a focus in accounting from an accredited program
  • A graduate degree in an accredited business program, including at least 24 semester hours in accounting at the undergraduate level, 15 semester hours in accounting at the graduate level, or an equivalent combination
  • A bachelor’s degree in an accredited business-oriented program, including at least 24 semester hours in business and 24 semester hours in accounting at the undergraduate or graduate level

Candidates must also complete 1 year of work experience totaling 2,000 hours. The experience may be full-time or part-time but must be completed over at least 12 months and no more than 36 months, and must be verified by a licensed CPA.
